Review of research on loosening of threaded fasteners

Abstract Loosening of threaded fasteners is a key failure mode, which mainly caused by the slippage and friction behaviors on thread bearing surfaces, will affect integrity reliability products. Numerous scholars have conducted research loosening fasteners; however, comprehensive reviews been scarce. In this review article, we define as loss preload divide it into non-rotational rotational loosening. The causes mechanisms are summarised. Some essential topics regarding under transverse vibration also attracted significant attention investigated widely, including curve, critical condition loosening, influencing factors carried out these three summarised in review. It believed that our work not only help new researchers quickly understand state-of-the-art but increase knowledge engineers subject. future, important to conduct more quantitative local accumulation, relationship between accumulation potential comprehensively unravel mechanism, effectively guide anti-loosening design fasteners.
